Happy Father's Day!

Well yesterday we celebrated Father's Day with all the wonderful men in our life! My dad is truly an amazing father and I am so lucky to have to him. He is such an example of what a great father is. As the days go by, I see the same characteristics in my hubby. He is going to be an amazing daddy! He already takes such great care of me and our house...especially when I've been so sick! He is working so hard lately to save more money for baby on the way! I feel so blessed to have these great men in my life. :) Happy Father's Day to all the dads and dads to be out there!

what your mama never told you about pregnancy....

Everyone know the symptoms of pregnancy-fatigue, morning sickness, and a growing belly. Well what about pregnancy brain?? This is the part where baby sucks everything out of your brain and you can't think like a normal human! You can't speak, you can't remember your own name, and you do crazy emotional things! Well this pregnancy brain has definitely gotten me! I cried hysterically one afternoon because Glen opened the mail....gesh ;) Then I bought brand new apple juice, opened it, drank some, and where did I decide to store it? In the cabinet next to the cups! Seems logical, right? I cried again for that! Oh pregnancy....you make me laugh...and cry! :) HAHA!

One morning I woke up, looked down, and out of nowhere baby had popped out! I have finally gained about 3 pounds!  Here is a picture of me at 4 months pregnant. I'm so excited and can't wait to grow even more!

Well I am a little behind but a few weeks ago I went to the doctor for my down syndrome screening(which was all normal). Glen didn't go with me to this visit because I was just expecting a blood test and them to check some fluids. Well, it turned out to be way more exciting! This doctor (not my regular doctor) got a lot of great pictures of baby. As I was lying there she asked me (in her abrasive way) if I wanted to know what the baby was because she could tell! For about 2 seconds I thought no because I should wait for Glen. Before I could say no my mouth shouted yes!  She told me it was a BOY! I sat straight up and asked her if she was sure because it was so soon. She told me as long as I didn't know any girls with "pokeys" it was definitely a girl. We both had a feeling it was a boy and I guess we were right!  Then she showed me pokey parts!

We are both so excited! Now comes the fun of picking a name!

Here is a picture from a few weeks ago where baby is waving hello. I think this is the first picture it looks like a real baby! In this ultrasound I could also see little baby sucking away on that thumb and doing some gymnastics in there. :)

morning, noon, and night sickness

Well today I got to say goodbye to all my medical goodies, so I thought in honor of that I would write about my hyperemesis. At 7 weeks I got diagnosed with hyperemesis.   Basically, it's just really bad morning sickness that causes you to lose more than 5% of your pre-pregnancy weight. I was sick pretty much all day everyday and wasn't able to even keep down water somedays. At first my doctor put me on an oral medication(zofran-what they give chemo patients) which didn't work because I kept throwing it right back up.  I started losing more and more weight (a total of 17 in about a month) and the doctor got concerned. After an overnight visit to the hospital, I had a home health nurse come visit me. I was hooked up to an IV for about a week to try and hydrate me. I was also put on a zofran medicine pump which I wore around in a stylish fanny pack! After weeks of wearing my pump and having to stick myself with a needle everyday, I finally started to feel better! Now, I no longer have to visit the doctor weekly, have gained 2 pounds (which puts me at negative 15 pounds) , and no longer have to take any medicine! Thankfully through all of this baby managed to grow and stay healthy, and is even measuring big! I'm just very thankful to have started feeling like a normal person again and to be able to eat and leave the house.   Here is a picture of all my goodies! :) 

Doctors Visits

Well because I have hyperemesis (really bad morning sickness-but more on that later) I get to go to the doctor and see the baby every week!  That is definitely about the only perk of having to go through this morning, noon, and night sickness. Here are a few pictures from the past few weeks. It's amazing to see how much the baby has grown over just a few weeks.

This is from our first doctor's visit on April 8th. Glen and I both got to go to this one and cried like babies (haha) when we saw our baby(which looks more like a blob) and heard it's heart beat for the first time. It's such an amazing feeling.

Just one week later and the baby is getting bigger!

This appointment was amazing because I got to see little leg and arm buds and a head. If you look at the picture it's like the baby (which looks more like a gummy bear now) is standing up. The little black dots at the top of the head are the eyes!

This is the latest picture of baby! My how we have grown! It's amazing to know that when we found out about baby it was the size of a poppyseed and now it's bigger than a lime!

I've graduated and now get to go to the doctor every 2 weeks. My next appointment is next week so I'm sure there will be more pictures to post again soon! :)
